Meet the Artist

Hi, my name is Andrea. I run Ixchel Boutique in hopes to one day sell my art and pivoting to work in galleries.

Born and raised in the United States I’ve always loved art. Ever since I was little I would draw in the margins of my homework. Being both Mexican and Peruvian I find the colors in my cultures to be so captivating and an inspiration to my own practice.

Behind the Name Ixchel

I wanted the name of my shop to be close to my heritage. Including my efforts to reconnect with my Maya roots. Ixchel is the Mayan goddess of the moon, from the Yucatán region. I wanted all my art work to be inclusive to BIPOC (black, indigenous, people of color). From what I have learned in the philanthropy world people tend to leave out the Indigenous when using BIPOC. I truly believe in and everyone should see their communities celebrated through art work and in general media.
